NEAECC Report! Kim Adsit, Big Spring Lake, & More!

Ok, just got home  a little while ago from presenting at the North East Alabama Early Childhood Conference!  

I had the best time!

 I am in love with Big Spring Lake School...it is so bright and cheerful and everyone was so welcoming!

I tried to speak slowly...but always feel like I am telling people stuff they already know.  I can only hope I shared something interesting and new to help them with their stations!!

I got to see Kim Adsit present...she was awesome! She was down to earth and so funny...but boy, she knows what she is talking about!!

Tell Me More! Linky Party

I am a little late to the party....the linky party, that is!

I am linking up with Mrs. Lemons and telling a bit more about myself!

Here are some random things about me:

1.  I was adopted by my grandparents when I was little,  so between that and other life occurrences my name has changed 6 times!  The social security office hates me!

2.  When I was a kid I once kissed an iron.  While.it.was.on.  

No, I didn't mean to burn my lips.  I was just sitting there at the table and saw my reflection in the iron that my mom had sitting there... all of a sudden I had this impulse to see what it would be like to kiss myself.  So I did.  

But the iron was on.

And my lips were burned.

Unpleasant.

3.  I met my husband online.  See, how it happened was like this:  I got divorced after 10 years of marriage (and one great daughter!!). I just wasn't ready to "date"...but I was also bored to death on the weekends.  So I started "dating" on an Irish singles' website.  It was perfect...all the flirting and fun (plus accents) without the guy actually showing up at my doorstep.  Well, after several months of that, I felt better about online dating locally.  My hubby sent me a message that said, "hi."  Six months later we were married on Jackson Square in New Orleans.  Within 2 years of marriage, we were expecting our 2nd child. Unfortunately, the only accent he has is a southern one =(

4.    My husband is 14" taller than I am.  I am 5'2" and he is 6'4".  I LOVE it.

(I was six months preggo here and he looks like a baby)

5.  I have three kids. Never in a million years did I ever think I would have more than one child...nor did I think I would be a teacher when I was growing up. A ballerina or archaeologist, but not a teacher!!

Just goes to show you that life is full of unexpected surprises.

6.  I eat hamburgers and hotdogs in the only evolved way....ketchup only.

7.  I was born and raised in Alabama, but have always felt that I was meant to be living somewhere else.  

8.  I love peppermint patties...mint products in general.

8.  I love mysteries and grew up reading Agatha Christie.  My dream is to ride on the Orient Express. 

9.  My hair is long.  I have only ever had it cut short once, after I had my first baby.  Since my husband and I married 5 years ago, I haven't had it cut at all.   Oh, and for those of you who have received an email from me, I am brunette...and I do love to laugh =)

10.  I am anything but the typical teacher.  

Finds, a New Pack, and a Freebie!

Some other finds...novelty pens at Target for a dollar that I think I can use as pointers =)

 The other find was the flowers marked down to $2 each at a local pharmacy...just a bright little classroom display!

In other news, I have a new pack that I think is awesome...it is a combination of samplings of everything I use in my 5 literacy stations.  

I included pictures and descriptions of all my stations.  I also included a title poster, a 'Have to Can do' example Poster' and then activity or response pages for EACH station.  Later this week I will do a collage picture to show all the individual pages, but the pack is over 80 pages.  Click here and then choose download preview to get this little freebie page:

Busy, Busy!

SO I have been taking advantage of my summer to revise and edit a few of my older packs.  First up was my Pattern Block Sight Word Pack.  I didn't make a lot of changes, but I revised the cover page big time to make it a little prettier!

The other two packs I revised are my Question of the Day packs.  I added page numbers (a great suggestion!) SO if you have bought and downloaded the packs and would prefer to have the page number versions, just go back to TPT or TN and download again from your 'purchases' tab.  (I apologize that I didn’t put them there in the first place!!!)

My friends over at Learning Resources sent me some products to review...and I have to say the best part was that I got to choose what I wanted to try out.  The first thing I saw was the set of Barnyard Buzzers.  How cute are these??

I couldn't resist!  I see so many possibilities for games and learning!  How much fun would these be to use during small group?  Or to let your kids rotate using them to answer questions...or in pairs during turn and talk?  When you push the button, it makes the animal sound!
My own personal kids don't want to let me take them to school!!
