I love jewelry, specifically bracelets and these hand-made bracelets from the Trashy Crafter are no exception. She uses damaged or outdated library books and recycles them to make beads…how cool is that? The bracelet I chose is made from a book of 100 first words!
Here is a bit of their story:
My name is Kim Franklin. I am a recycled crafter from San Diego, I take damaged and outdated library books and recycled them into jewelry, Paper Book bead bracelets, earrings and necklaces. I have a very special place in my heart for elementary school teachers, my 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Bryant and my school Librarian Mrs. Servantes were very huge influences in my life along with my grandma.
I have been crafting since childhood, and it was my third grade teacher that taught me how to make paper beads, later when I saw so many beautiful children's books being thrown out because they were scribbled in, ripped or outdated I had to save them. My Mom and I have been hand cutting, rolling and creating recycled book page beads for the past 5 years now. My book bead jewelry is so meaningful, unique and is truly something special in that you can be unique and tell your own story!
The mom and daughter crafters that make up the Trashy Crafter also do custom orders!
If you don't want to wait and see if you win the giveaway, you can use the 15% off coupon code (tc2014) that is good for anything in the Trashy Crafter Etsy shop for the duration of the giveaway week!
Happy Wednesday, Y'all! (My new class comes tomorrow, so wish me luck!)
The first book I loved as a child was " Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel". Kinda weird, but I read it over and over. That's what I would choose. kimworthey@yahoo.com
